We are looking for a small number of Engagement Volunteers to support our Big City Butterflies team at the Lambeth Country Show on the 16th and 17th of July. For more details on this fantastic event that celebrates the very best of both the city and the countryside visit their website: Lambeth Country Show | Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2022. You will play a key role in helping to introduce people to the fascinating world of butterflies and moths and show them how they can help them in their local green spaces. You will be supporting our Big City Butterflies team at their stand, encouraging people to take part in the Big Butterfly Count (our annual citizen science survey), craft activities and generally chatting about butterflies and moths!
This role is suitable for someone with previous experience of working in environmental communication/promotion or those keen to gain new skills and experience. A good level of knowledge of butterflies and moths is desirable but enthusiasm and a passion for wildlife is the key - our staff team will always be on hand. You will need excellent communication skills and be reliable and punctual. In return, we provide you with training (delivered online but please let us know if you would prefer another way of receiving your training) and resources and the opportunity to shadow an experienced environmental educator. We can reimburse you for your travel to and from the event and any subsistence (drinks etc) required during your shift.
We require help on both days of the show (16th and 17th July) which runs from midday to 8pm and our volunteer shifts can be flexible (we just ask for a minimum commitment of a 4 hour shift including breaks).
For more details, please contact our Engagement Manager Kate Merry [email protected].
