At Butterfly Conservation, we want to create a world where butterflies and moths thrive, and are enjoyed by everyone.

Launched in 2007, the National Moth Recording Scheme (NMRS) has collated over 34 million current and historical sightings (records) of moths across the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

This wonderful resource, gathered by many thousands of volunteer recorders, is being used to conserve threatened moths, increase scientific understanding of moth declines and improve public awareness.

We rely on volunteers to deliver much of our work across the UK and together they give the same amount of time as 96 full time members of staff.  If we want to create a world where butterflies and moths thrive and can be enjoyed by everyone, forever, we need to let more people know about ways they can support us.

Join us at Fineshade Wood to learn about your local butterflies, moths, reptiles and amphibians!

We are excited to announce that we are looking to recruit Events Volunteers to help with the public engagement work carried out at Fineshade Wood, other Rockingham Forest sites and the local community.

Our Events Volunteers help the butterflies and people on their doorstep. They help to connect people to their local wildlife, encouraging people to take action for butterflies and moths.
